Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace

  • Insofar as possible, we aim to ensure the composition of our workforce reflects the make-up of the local community
  • We have specific programmes in all our offices to support diversity within the hiring process, e.g. internship and scholarship award programmes
  • This is a particular focus in Bermuda, where we engage actively with local organisations to source diverse talent and provide coaching/mentoring for underrepresented groups
  • We aim to maintain a focus on equal opportunities across all stages of hiring process
  • We measure and minimise the pay gap where possible.

Bring Your Whole Self to Work

  • Our vision is for a workplace culture where differences are valued and where diversity of background, experience and thought are welcomed. We want to create an environment where all employees, regardless of who they are, are given equal opportunities for career progression and enjoy fair reward from their and Fidelis MGU's successes. This will be driven by a workforce that embraces Diversity and Inclusion at every level, in every department across Fidelis MGU.

Black Lives Matter

We continue to reflect on the persistence of racism against Black Americans in the United States and against Black and Minority Ethnic and immigrant populations worldwide and the part we need to play.

We recognise the terrible impact of racism on its victims – socially, economically, educationally, legally, psychologically and in so many other pervious forms.

We want to actively participate in anti-racism and the eradication of racism. We want to be actively involved in our communities, each of which suffers from the impact of racism – and work with each community not only to have the dialogue about racism, but to effect change. This is a movement we are committed to and Fidelis MGU has made donations to organisations that play a part in fighting racism and creating opportunities to right the wrongs that have been happening over hundreds of years.  These organisations allow us to work with them in being part of the solution, and our staff are eager to participate in this change. This initiative is long term, and further funding will be provided in future.

Fidelis MGU – Board Diversity policy

  • Fidelis MGU believes that developing and maintaining a diverse and inclusive organisation is critical to its success. The Board have an important role in promoting diversity to ensure that everyone in the business has equal opportunities to thrive and progress; this role starts with its own composition. A diverse Board encourages fresh ideas and different perspectives, which in turn can support rounded and effective decision making. Diversity in the context of the Boards includes (but is not limited to) a balanced variety of skills, experience, approach, education, background, tenure, personality type, character, age, gender and race.

Board appointments are made following the evaluation process noted above, considering the specific knowledge, skills, independence and experience required to ensure that the Board is well-rounded and each member can bring a range of diverse benefits to the board composition. Any recommendations made for appointments must be explicitly justified with the concept of healthy board diversity and inclusion being encouraged and actively managed by the Board.
